“If the people we love are stolen from us, the way to have them live on is to never stop loving them. Buildings burn, people die, but real love is forever.” - The Crow
Dominic Jordan Schipferling
June 9, 1981 – July 27, 2006
Two ravens, three crows,
A bracelet, a locket, a ring, and a rose.
Four for the journey that shattered the day,
Five for the highway that took him away.
Six for the sirens that broke through the air,
Seven for Dominic’s soul rising there.
Eight for the impact that fractured the glass,
Nine for the shadows that fade on the grass.
Ten for the tire tracks burned in the stone,
Eleven for grief that we face all alone.
Twelve for the love that remains ever deep,
And thirteen for Dominic's immortal sleep.
He stepped through the veil on that July day,
When the world shifted cold and the light turned to gray.
But time cannot dim all the beauty he gave,
Love lives far past the edge of the eternal grave.
The ravens still watch from the telephone wire,
The crows count the seasons of grief and desire.
But Dominic rests where the wild roses grow,
Immortal, at peace, where the quiet winds blow.
